The Nottingham Forest manager Colin Calderwood today revealed that Gary Holt could be facing surgery on a knee injury.

The midfielder has been carrying round a carltilage injury for around a month now and it will eventually need to be operated on. Despite this Holt is wanting to carry on his good form at the start of the season by playing for as long as possible before going under the knife.

Speaking to the official site Colin Calderwood said ‘Gary has a little problem in one of his knees. He has a tear in a cartilage than at the moment is not bad enough to stop him playing or training. We’re aware of it and have to just be a little bit careful. We have pencilled in dates for him to have surgery. This could be brought forward or put back but at the moment he is prepared to play on through a little bit of discomfort.’

When Gary Holt goes for the operation he will be on the sidelines for around 3-4 weeks. We will miss him since he has played a big part towards the end of last season and the start of this season.
