The former Wycombe man is recovering from a medial knee ligament injury and is unlikely to return to action until early December.

But he believes Forest will be in good shape in League One when he is fit enough to play again.

And he hopes he can play his part to help them win promotion.

‘I think Forest will still be in a position to achieve something when I come back,’ he said. ‘I don’t think we can make that mistake twice.

‘This is a season I feel will be successful, whether that means going straight up – which we can achieve – or going up through the play-offs.

‘No matter what, I think we will go up – touch wood – I do think we will do it. We have a strong squad, one of the best squads in the league.

‘I hope we will be up there when I do come back and I hope to be fighting for a place.’

With Grant Holt, Jack Lester, Scott Dobie, Neil Harris, Junior Agogo, Spencer Weir-Daley and John Paul Pittman at the club, Tyson says there will be a huge battle for first team places.

But his immediate goal is to get himself fit.

‘The injury is a hurdle standing in the way of me moving on in my career, to help Nottingham Forest move up the leagues.

‘That is the main thing I can’t get over. But I would rather keep a smile on my face than be down about it, but inside I am hurting.

‘I am gutted that all the goals I had set for myself for the first half of the season have gone out the window and there is nothing I can do.

‘I just have to set myself new goals now, the first of which is just to get back playing – and to be as fit as possible when I do.

‘I am probably looking at the beginning of December realistically, but that is to be playing, not just training.’
