Aitor Karanka’s side are widely anticipated to augment their squad with potential incomings, and Newcastle United’s experienced midfielder, Jack Colback has been identified as a transfer target.  The 28-year-old spent the second-half of last season on loan at the City Ground, and Karanka has revealed his ambition to sign the former Sunderland player.

As the Chronicle Live reports, Nottingham Forest are interested in the services of Newcastle’s Jack Colback, and the Magpies are keen to offload the midfielder to reduce their wage bill. Colback is a player who has attained considerable experience at Premier League level, and he has also experienced a promotion-winning campaign having won the Championship with Rafa Benitez’s side in the 2016/17 campaign.

Accordingly, the hard-working midfielder has the necessary experience and knowhow to play a pivotal role for Forest as they seek promotion to the Premier League. Despite only registering nine appearances for Aitor Karanka’s side last season, Colback displayed his qualities, and he combined well with Ben Watson at the heart of midfield.

One of Colback’s most notable qualities is his positional awareness and flexibility. He typically plays as a central midfielder, yet he’s also competent when operating in a more defensive role. If required he can even be deployed at left-back, which further reinforces his adaptability.

Without question, as any midfielder should, Colback exhibits a certain comfort when in possession, he has established his ability to retain possession when required. Additionally, he is regarded for his dogged determination, and he displays impressive passing and tackling skills.

While specific areas of his game require revision, such as his crossing ability, he is exceptionally hard-working and comparatively selfless on the pitch. Given his wealth of qualities and his treasured experience, he would be a useful addition to Forest.
