Nottingham Forest have been especially active in the transfer market, and their activity is poised to continue over the course of upcoming weeks. Karanka and his team require relentless work to improve upon their 17th place finish, and shrewd transfer recruitment is undoubtedly a tool that could help Forest achieve their aspirations.

According to Portuguese outlet O Jogo, as cited by HITC, Nottingham Forest have been linked with a potential move for the Porto striker, Goncalo Paciencia. The 23-year-old has already been capped by his national side, Portugal, yet he’s failed to establish himself as a permanent fixture in the Porto squad. Paciencia has had a series of loan moves, the most recent of which was at Vitória Setúbal.

Despite his age, he is comparatively inexperienced, and he has failed to achieve continuity in his senior career thus far. Having impressed with Porto B, where he scored 14 goals in 35 games, he was unable to be rewarded the same opportunities with Porto’s senior team.

In fact, he has only amassed 12 appearances for the Portuguese champions, scoring a solitary goal. As previously mentioned, the 23-year-old enjoyed a successful loan spell at Vitória Setúbal last season. In 24 appearances, the striker amassed a creditable total of ten goals.

In the mould of the modern-day centre-forward, Paciencia is an accomplished dribbler of the ball who displays impressive technical qualities. In addition to his marvellous dribbling ability, he is a proficient passer of the ball and demonstrates an admirable tendency to dominate aerial duels.

Given his age, it’s natural that areas of his game require improvement. Without question, he must improve his ability to retain possession, but these are only minute issues that could be erased with continuous first-team involvement.  He could prove to be an astute loan signing for Forest.
