Aitor Karanka’s side have ambitions to return to the top-flight of English football and having completed an impressive double deal from Benfica; they’re expected to continue with their recruitment. Cardiff City’s Lee Tomlin could prove to be a useful acquisition for Forest.

As Nottinghamshire Live reports, Lee Tomlin is interested in moving to the City Ground from newly-promoted Cardiff City.  While it’s believed that the midfielder will not play a significant role for the Premier League side this season, his wage has increased following the Bluebirds’ promotion. Accordingly, it’s looking less likely that Forest will sign the 29-year-old on a permanent basis, rather, they’re looking to conclude a loan deal for the former Bristol City player.

Tomlin spent the second-half of last season on loan with Karanka’s side where he impressed with several exciting displays.  The English midfielder scored four goals in 15 games for Forest, and he could play a pivotal role at the City Ground during the forthcoming season.

Without question, Tomlin is vastly experienced at Championship level, and that knowhow could prove to be exceedingly useful for Forest. One of his primary strengths is his versatility; he can operate on the flank, centrally or as a forward. This adaptability and flexibility is a treasured characteristic.

Additionally, he is appreciated for his ability to shoot from a distance. Tomlin is also accomplished at dribbling, and he has developed a useful tendency to complete key passes.

Despite the wealth of qualities that Tomlin possesses, there are areas of his game that require more significant improvement.  For example, his ability to compete in the air needs refining, and his ability to retain possession needs improvement.

That said, the experienced 29-year-old is undoubtedly a terrific player, and he could prove to be a superb addition to Karanka’s side.
