Matty Cash was one of a few Nottingham Forest players to come away with any praise from supporters following Wednesday’s 2-1 defeat to Hull City. The 22-year-old has impressed as a makeshift right-back all season and was the one positive from a disappointing evening.

Cash saw a lot of the ball against Hull, put in numerous crosses from the right-hand side and was combative when called upon defensively. He even scored a brilliant solo goal for good measure, picking up the ball in the middle of the park, cutting inside and beating three men before finishing from close range.

As per WhoScored, Cash played a full 90 minutes, made 94 touches, won one aerial duel, had two shots, completed 79.6% of his 49 passes, whipped in 12 crosses, made three tackles, blocked one shot, made four interceptions, had one successful dribble and made three clearances.

The 22-year-old has made 15 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring and creating four goals. Injuries forced Cash to deputise for Carl Jenkinson & Tendayi Darikwa, but he’s been a revelation at right-back ever since.

Forest next face Reading on October 26 and will be desperate to end their two-game losing run.
