Claudio Yacob could be on his way out of Nottingham Forest when the January transfer window opens as he’s been on the periphery for nearly seven months. The 32-year-old has been low down the pecking order under Sabri Lamouchi and can’t even make the matchday squad anymore.

The 32-year-old joined Forest on September 6, 2018 and has gone on to make 17 appearances in all competitions. Yacob’s last outing came in the Reds’ 1-0 win over Queens Park Rangers (April 27) and he’s only been in the squad once since then – unused substitute in Forest’s 1-0 win over Bolton Wanderers (May 5).

Should Claudio Yacob leave Nottingham Forest in January?

Yes

No

Yacob will be out of contract at the end of June 2020, but it’s unlikely he’ll wait another seven months to leave Forest. The Argentine international has missed 19 games in total during his exile and doesn’t appear likely to return given how many players stand in his way of making an appearance.

Ben Watson, Ryan Yates, Samba Sow, Alfa Semedo and John Bostock have all been preferred in midfield under Sabri Lamouchi, so the only option is to offload Yacob and allow him to seek opportunities elsewhere.
