Despite Nottingham Forest leading the race to sign Aro Muric, the Reds have been linked with a move for another goalkeeper in Abdoulaye Diallo. The 27-year-old is reportedly available on a free transfer after being released by Stade Rennais, but there is a lot of confusion over his contract situation.

According to Hurriyet, Diallo has already found himself a new club – Gençlerbirliği of the Turkish Super Lig. Transfermarkt say he joined the side on a two-year deal after his contract expired at Stade Rennais. However, GFFN refuted the claims and suggested he’s still a free agent.

With Diallo having played under Lamouchi last season, he could be open to renewing acquaintances with his former manager at Nottingham Forest. The only problem would be a bloated squad. Forest have Costel Pantilimon, Luke Steele, Jordan Smith and could be signing Muric.

The Senegalese international would be the fifth shot-stopper in the first-team, meaning at least two players could be on their way out this summer. It’s unknown why Forest keep being linked with so many goalkeepers, but it was an area Martin O’Neill was looking to strengthen before his sacking.

Whether Diallo will be brought in to fix the problem remains to be seen, however.
