There are three stages of being a football fan over the summer. There’s the time you spend waiting for the fixtures to be released, waiting for the players to come back for pre-season training and then waiting for the new kit to be released. It’s almost as if your summer doesn’t really feel complete until you’ve completed those three steps and you can finally get on with your life.
Well Nottingham Forest have completed that final step, by releasing their new shirt for the 2019-20 season. The good thing about the Forest kit is there’s not a lot of room to be experimental, predominantly Garibaldi red in colour with the odd touch of white in places. It’s not like Newcastle United for instance who can’t decide how many stripes to have on their shirts. It’s hard to mess that sort of thing up.
However, it looks as if the designers have, because Nottingham Forest fans have not taken to the new shirt one bit. Some people thought that the shirt lacked imagination, whilst others thought that that the design was so dull that it should be relegated to being a training shirt instead. Hopefully the board will take the advice to hand and do a better job with the 2020-21 shirt.
