Dexter Blackstock has spoken to the official site for the first time since his loan move from QPR and says that he wants to help the Reds’ reach safety in the Championship.

Blackstock also says that he was surprised the Hoops let him go. ‘I was a bit surprised that I was allowed to go, especially with Heidar Helguson out for the season. It was a bit of a surprise for me but then again it was an opportunity for me to come to such a big club.’

He was the top scorer at QPR with 12 goals so far this campaign, but had fallen out of favour. Their loss, will hopefully be our gain. There’s no doubting that he’s the sort of player we’ve been crying out for since the departure of Grant Holt. With any luck, Blackstock will be the new improved version of our former poacher. With only 6 games left to play this season, he will have to hit the ground runing. A debut goal at Oakwell on Saturday, will get his City Ground career off to a flyer.
