Welsh World Cup Qualification hopes were dealt a severe blow last night, as they were beaten 2-0 at home to Finland. Forest striker Robert Earnshaw came on as a second half substitute with his side 1-0 down, but was unable to get the hosts back in the game.

The Reds’On loan defender Chris Gunter, managed to get a full 90 mins under his belt and earned his 14th international cap, at the tender age of 19.

The defeat sees the Welsh drop to 4th in the Group 4 table and they now have a tough task in qualifying for next years’ World Cup. They face Group leaders Germany on Wednesday at home again, but will be lucky to get anything out of that one.

Hopefully for Forest, both players report back in good health. We’re about to go into the final 6 games of the season and both Gunter and Earnshaw will have a major part to play if we are to ensure our Championship survival.
