Chris Cohen played much of last season with a groin strain and played through the pain barrier on many occasions with injections, but at the end of the season he underwent surgery on the troublesome groin.

It had been reported that Cohen would not be quite ready in time to make the start of the season, but the 20 year old has earmarked one of next weeks friendlies as a possible return.

The club thought it best that Cohen missed the trip to Scotland in an effort to boost his recovery at home. Cohen told the official site. ‘It would have been nice to have gone up to Scotland, but the manager and the physios felt it would be better for me to stay in Nottingham and really concentrate on my rehab.’

Cohen could make his debut against either Notts, Derby, or the game with Sheffield United. If he’s ready for the start of the season it will be a real bonus for the Reds’.
