‘Blinking heck’, ‘Shame’: These Forest fans have mixed reactions to club’s plans

Whilst not as glamorous as the FA Cup draws, where you could be drawn against teams several divisions below you, the first round of the League Cup is still somewhat exciting. It still gives you a chance to play someone you haven’t faced in a while, or even for the very first time.

That’s where Nottingham Forest find themselves, after last night’s Carabao Cup draw pitted them against League One side Fleetwood Town. Nottingham Forest have only played them once before, in the same round of the same competition back in 2012, when Dexter Blackstock secured a 1-0 victory for the Reds.

Whilst this should be a comfortable game on paper for Martin O’Neill’s men, the Forest fans weren’t exactly jumping for joy when the balls came out the bowl.

They took to Twitter to express how disappointed they were that they got such a low profile team, but were even more frustrated at the fact that the game was at the City Ground rather than at Fleetwood’s Highbury Stadium.

Although some fans might not think it’s the most interesting game on the pitch, the prospect of Roy Keane and Joey Barton in opposing dugouts should at least bring some fire to the whole affair…
