You just can’t please everyone, can you?

With fans eagerly clambering to find out when the new signings will be announced, and the local newspaper even having to reassure fans that things are usually this slow and to cool their expectations, you’d assume that when a new signing actually did come in that fans would be overjoyed.

So when Nottingham Forest finally gave in to fans demands, or rather finally got some business done, these things take time you know, things didn’t quite turn out that way when the club announced the signing of former Bolton forward Sammy Ameobi on a free transfer.

Ameobi hasn’t had the best of times in recent seasons, only getting four league goals in thirty appearances last year, but surely you’d imagine that O’Neill saw some potential in him, he wouldn’t sign him expecting to repeat his poor goal return from last year.

However, it’s fair to say that these Forest fans weren’t too thrilled to find out that Ameobi was their first signing of the summer, and they took to Twitter to voice their displeasure. A lot of fans weren’t too happy with his goal return in recent years and one fan was already plotting his departure in January.

  • Don’t understand the negativity, he’s the perfect signing in a lot of ways

He’s the right age, ‘free transfers’ are often players in the twilight of their career, living on past reputations

It’s a short one year contract if he doesn’t fit in. Forest have been very naive in the past, doling out 3 and 4 year contracts too easily, which is why we have so much dead wood and a bloated squad. If the likes of Cummings, Clough and host of others had been on a years contract, they’d be gone by now.

He’s come from a relegated team struggling for cash, so he won’t be on silly wages like we paid Colback and it’s still just a years contract anyway.

He’s 6′ 3″ which could be useful in dead ball situations.

The only probelem I see, is if he’s being bought in to replace Lolley, but otherwise I’m all for it
