According to the Football Insider, Ipswich Town are interested in signing Liam Bridcutt on loan, with Aitor Karanka ‘willing to let’ the outcast leave Nottingham Forest in January. Bridcutt is reportedly ‘keen to move on’ from the City Ground due to the lack of playing time under Karanka this season.

This is music to Paul Lambert’s ears, as the Town boss is recruiting players to stave off relegation and hopes to capitalise on Bridcutt’s situation. The Scotland international has found himself behind the likes of Ben Watson, Adlene Guedioura, Claudio Yacob and Jack Colback at Forest, making only four appearances in all competitions this campaign.

His last outing for the Reds was in the EFL Cup against Burton Albion on October 30 and his last league outing came against Rotherham United on September 22. Bridcutt has made 31 appearances in all competitions since joining Forest from Leeds United in 2017, but he may not make another appearance before leaving next month.

The 29-year-old is contracted with Forest until 2020 but there should be plenty of interest in Bridcutt’s signature given his experience in the Premier League, Championship and League One. Karanka may not want a loan move, however, as he’s been keen to trim down his squad before bringing players in.
