Nottingham Forest travel to the Pirelli Stadium tomorrow night to take on Nigel Clough’s Burton Albion, in our second friendly of the pre season. Although the match is a friendly and a fundraiser, some fans will see it as a Clough v Calderwood encounter. At least us old farts will at any rate.

After a successful week of conditioning in Germany that ended with an impressive 2-1 victory over Kickers Offenbach, the Reds’ are back on home soil for this game at Burton.

The Brewers manager will of course need no introduction to Forest fans, as it’s none other than ‘our number nine,’ Nigel Clough. Young Nigel spent nine great years at the City Ground and will forever be remembered as one of the finest Centre Forwards we ever had. He scored 104 goals in a little over 300 appearances for us and picked up a fair few trophies in his time as well.

Since hanging up his boots in 1998, he’s been cutting his teeth in management at Burton. They had their best season under his tenure last year when they finished 5th in the Conference National Division. They were beaten Play Off semi finalists and just missed out on a Wembley day out and a shot at entry into the Football League.

The game at the Pirelli tomorrow is also a charity game and will raise funds for the Treetops Hospice Ripple Appeal. KO is 7.15pm and tickets are available on the night, priced Adults £12 and U16’s £3.00.
