Virtually every national newspaper is today running the story, that Steve McClaren is set to walk out on Nottingham Forest after only 5 games in charge.

McClaren was only appointed manager of the Reds’ on June 13, after former boss Billy Davies was sacked.

One of the reasons Davies was sacked, was because of his continued criticisms of the clubs’ transfer process. Those same criticisms are proving to be a major stumbling block for McClaren.

Earlier this week McClaren said he needed at least 3 more signings for the club to be competitive this season, but by the time the transfer window closed on Wednesday, they failed to land a single player to bolster McClaren’s squad.

  • From an outsiders perspective…If ever there was a club ripe for new monied owners Forest must be up there. With the right money and not huge amounts, with McClaren, Forest would be in the Prem in a season or two. You’d need to expand the ground to 40,000 and away you go! Forest have been out of the top tier for much too long.

  • I am glad McClaren has gone publi with this – maybe now the real people who are screwing things up -THE BOARD – will start to feel the pressure – they dont like having reporters shoving microphones under their noses and asking difficult questions – if McClaren does walk it will at least have brought the issue of investment in our great club out into the open for all the footballing and more importnatly BUISNESS WORLD to see – just maybe a potential investor is out there thing – I could do something with that sleeping giant over there………

  • Again from an outsider’s perspective I always though Davies moaning about the board was just Billy Davies being himself, but it’s clear it’s not. McClaren will do well with you if he’s backed. If not he may as well walk and save any remaining reputation!

  • I hope he does go, not because he is not a good manager I believe we have done well to get him here but to finally show up the board, MA, ND for what they are – time wasting jokers who have held a good squad back for two seasons and are set to do the same again. Even Gary Megson was saying the same thing six years ago…
