The latest report on how clubs’ have fared since the introduction of the Premier League, is a sobering one if you’re a Forest fan. Not that we need telling, but we’ve underachieved somewhat since the inception of the world’s foremost football league, in 1992.
According to the latest research carried out by The New Football Pools, Forest have finished as the third most unsuccessful team in the land, since the Premier League was formed. The ‘Achievers Report 2008’ has looked at all 92 league clubs and as it says, ‘has placed them all on a level playing field,’ for the purposes of the report.
Strangely the report lists Doncaster Rovers as the countries biggest achievers, as it takes into account league position over the period, attendances, finances, changes in ownership, as well as how the team has performed on the pitch, both in the league and in the cups.
There’s always someone worse off than yourself and in our case it’s Wolves and Sheffield Wednesday. Clearly we still have a way to go, but the people at NFFC are doing their best to catch them up!
Sixteen years of hurt is alot for any clubs’ fans to put up with and something tells me that the fans might be letting the hirearchy at NFFC know just that this coming weekend, if the result against Cardiff doesn’t go our way.
