Tendayi Darikwa drew praise from some supporters after an impressive performance against Aston Villa. No Nottingham Forest player made more interceptions (3) than the 26-year-old while only Michael Dawson made more clearances (8) on the night.

Nottingham Forest drew 5-5 at Villa Park on Wednesday night, spurning a 2-0 lead, a 3-2 lead and 4-3 lead before equalising late on after going 5-4 down. The draw sees Forest move into the Championship playoffs and Darikwa’s contributions was praised on social media by fans.

Darikwa has been a regular for Forest this season, making 13 league appearances under Karanka. He had a brief spell on the bench when Saidy Janko was given a chance to impress between early-September and early-October but has nailed down the right-back slot with eight consecutive league starts.

The Zimbabwe international was a busy player on Wednesday due to the end-to-end nature of the game against Villa but handed it well enough to ensure his side came away with a result. Forest are now sixth in the Championship with 31 points from 19 games and have picked up three wins and three draws from their last six.
