Game of the day in League 1 saw Carlisle as the new leaders by beating Southend 1-0 at home. A 60th minute Garner goal gave them the points and top of the tree status for this week at least. They knocked Orient off their perch, as they lost 4-2 away at Doncaster today.

Forest had a sorry weekend, not only losing 2-1 away at Luton. But also being taken over in the table by lucky Leeds United and dropping out of the playoff placings. If they continue with their current form I may have to revise the lucky Leeds United name tag, but not just yet,eh. Their 4-2 win over Millwall puts them a place above us, but level on points with 20. Goals from Prutton of all people and Beckford (again!) gave them the points that keep them unbeaten in the League.

Tranmere continued their good start to the season with a comfortable 3-0 win over Huddersfield. High flying Swindon were brought down to earth by a defeat at lowly Port Vale. Going down 2-1. Brighton though, managed to nick all three points away at Hartlepool. Even manager Wilkins said they didn’t deserve it, but it puts the Seagulls in 8th place, level on points with us.

Meanwhile down at the bottom Bournemouth had to settle for a point after a late goal from Darren Wrack cancelled out Jo Kuffour’s’ opener for the home side. The Cherries remain bottom.

Tuesdays’ opponents Oldham fell into the relegation zone with a 1-0 defeat at home to Northampton. Things aren’t quite going to plan for former Red John Sherridan. They along with us were tipped to do well. Still, it’s early days in the campaign and a long way to go. All in all, not a good weekend to be a Tricky, but Oldham on Tuesday night would be a good time to get back to winning ways and exact some sort of revenge for the two drubbings they gave us last season.
