Striker Marcus Tudgay began his second loan spell with Barnsley this week and says it’s his chance to put himself in the shop window and earn a new contract with the Yorkshire club.

The 30 year old enjoyed a relatively successful loan spell with the Tykes last season, where he scored 3 goals in 9 appearances. However, that loan move ended prematurely, due to him injuring a collarbone.

Tudgay told the official Football League website. ‘I’m here and I want to do well for Barnsley. Call it a shop window if you want, my contract’s up at the end of the season and we’ll see what happens. In theory you could say I’m playing for a move because it isn’t looking like it’s going to happen at Forest and it’s a chance for me to show I can play in the Championship and still score goals.’

Barnsley currently sit second from bottom in the Championship table and play Birmingham City at home today. Tudgay has been named in the starting for this game.
