Forest boss Billy Davies was left licking his wounds today, following the 3-2 home defeat against Reading on Friday night.

Speaking to the official site, Davies said. ‘In the first half we didn`t compete, we didn`t win tackles and we weren`t aggressive enough. Because of that we got what we deserved and found ourselves 2-0 down. Second half was much improved. We thoroughly deserved to get back into the game and at 2-2 there was only one team who looked like winning it. But we got hit by a sucker punch which was a devastating blow.’

Forest were 2-0 down within the first quarter of an hour, but did manage to pull a goal back just before the break through Simon Cox. Darius Henderson drew the sides level on the hour mark, but Reading got the winner thanks to youngster Jordan Obita.

The full extent of the damage from this defeat wont be known until Sunday, when Derby travel to Wigan. If the Sheep manage to win, they will leapfrog the Reds’ in the table and send them crashing out of the top 6. Results so far this weekend mean the Reds’ top 6 status is retained.
