Things Are Shaping Up.

Whilst Calderwood may be still deciding on his line up, he will have been impressed with the effort and commitment his players have shown so far, one of the major criticisms of last seasons squad. Former outcasts James, Padula and Harris have given the manager plenty to think about.

The Reds take on Lincoln City tonight at Sincil Bank and it is thought the side will have a more settled look to it than in previous games that has seen Calderwood play a different starting 11 in each half. The side that plays tonight will not necessarily be the one that starts against Bradford on August 5, but it won’t be far off.

Forest may not yet be firing on all cylinders but Calderwood is happy with the way things are going. CC believes in playing at a high tempo, with a little extra urgency this season, that can give his side an edge in what is expected to be a tight division. ‘It was how we have trained with them so far,’ he told the NEP

‘We have wanted them to play at a high pace, almost to the point where they are making mistakes because they are pushing themselves to do things so quickly (in the friendly games so far). We have shifted the ball about well so far, although we lacked a cutting edge up front.’
