Which has already happened of course as Nottingham Forest Head Coach Philippe Montanier has already signed striker Apostolos Vellios but he was being linked with a move to the club ahead of his appointment anyway.

Montainer will now start assessing his options before he starts looking to recruit ‘several players’ to help Forest have a successful Championship season, telling the BBC.

‘I have to (first) assess the level of the squad. But sure, we will recruit several players. We want to recruit several players to be strong for the Championship.’

He came to Forest having most recently worked with Rennes in France of course with him spending time in Spain with Real Sociedad before that.

Director of football Pedro Pereira has also arrived recently with him being someone Montainer has said he’s got a ‘very good relationship’ with.

As Pereira has worked in Italy and Portugal that leaves the pair with plenty of knowledge of European Football with them looking to utilise these contacts the best they can.

It goes without saying we’ll like to see as many British players arriving as possible with Montainer finishing by saying he’ll be looking to do this as it’ll mean better ‘integration’ into the squad but players from overseas aren’t being ruled out.

The Championship is ‘very attractive’ to players so the quality of the players in the 51-year-olds first priority with the arrivals not ‘dependant on nationality.’

‘It’s good if you have players from Britain, because the integration is better, but a lot of players want to play in England – the Championship is very attractive. It’s not dependent on nationality. The quality of the player is the first priority.’

Putting together a squad capable of challenging for Premier League promotion is what we want, we’ll find out soon enough if Montainer can do this!
