Philippe Montanier has made his first signing since being confirmed at Nottingham Forest’s new Head Coach. He’s snapped up former Everton striker Apostolos Vellios from Greek club Iraklis Thessaloniki.

The 24-year-old has signed for an undisclosed fee (which is being reported as setting us back £1m) with the Greek international signing a four-year deal at the City Ground having been linked with a move to Forest for a number of weeks.

He was being linked long before Montanier’s appointment.

Vellios has three-and-a-half-years of previous in England having spent that time with Everton ending the 2011/12 season by winning the Young Player of the Year award at Goodison Park, also having a brief loan spell with Blackpool too.

He joins Forest with us looking for him to at least match his 11-goals he managed in the Greek Super League last season but will he manage this?

This will be the first of ‘several’ signings made this summer as Montanier has made that clear as he looks to revamp the Forest squad to see us manage a serious promotion push in the Championship next season.
