Nottingham Forest could face being hit by the big freeze for the second week in succession, as the game at Glanford Park hangs in the balance because the pitch is covered with up to a foot of snow.

Forest had their home game with Bristol City called off last week because of the freezing conditions outside the ground. The Scunthorpe official site says they plan to leave the covering of snow uncleared for as long as possible, in an effort to protect the playing surface.

Billy Davies was quite happy to see the Bristol game postponed, as it gave some of the walking wounded more time to recover. He may not be quite so happy to have another game called off though, with the fixture list piling up and the tough run up to the new year ahead as well.

All this talk about the weather has raised the age old question of whether or not today’s breed of footballer is as tough as they were in the good ole days. terrythekitman summed it up nicely, by saying. ‘It’s not even long sleeve weather yet.’
