According to Pete O’Rourke of the Football Insider, Nottingham Forest are ‘plotting a move’ for Scott Carson. The 33-year-old is believed to be surplus to requirements under Philip Cocu and could be offloaded before the summer transfer window shuts.

Despite signing Arijanet Muric, nearing a move for Brice Samba and having Costel Pantilimon & Luke Steele to choose from, Forest are in the market for another goalkeeper. Sabri Lamouchi doesn’t appear to be keen on his current options and still wants to strengthen between the sticks.

Carson would certainly bring a lot of experience to the ranks. The Derby County stopper is an England international, has played for the likes of Leeds United, Liverpool, Sheffield Wednesday, Charlton Athletic, Aston Villa, West Bromwich Albion, Bursaspor (Turkey) and Wigan Athletic.

He’s made 145 appearances in the Premier League, 260 in the Championship and 61 in the Turkish Super Lig. Whether he’s a better option than what Forest currently have in the squad remains to be seen, however. Carson is on the periphery at Derby and kept only five clean sheets in 30 Championship games last season. Lamouchi may be backing the wrong horse.
