Report: Nottingham Forest ‘open negotiations’ for Ligue 1 striker, still early stages

|

According to Le10 Sport, Nottingham Forest have ‘opened negotiations’ for Alexandre Mendy. The Reds are on the hunt for another centre-forward following the departures of Aposotolos Vellios, Karim Ansarifard, Tyler Walker (loan) and Hillal Soudani. Daryl Murphy’s future has been uncertain under Sabri Lamouchi too.

Forest have until Thursday evening to get a deal over the line to strengthen their attack, but Le10 Sport say they’re still at the early stages of talks. Negotiations will have to progress on Wednesday as the Reds can’t afford to let a centre-forward slip through their figers. Sabri Lamouchi surprised many by loaning out Walker, but he is at least looking for a replacement.

Whether it’s Mendy remains to be seen, however. The 25-year-old plays for Girondins de Bordeaux and has made 18 appearances in all competitions since his 2017-move from Guingamp. He spent the last six months on loan at his former club too, contributing five goals in 23 games across the board.

Mendy doesn’t have the most prolific scoring record in general which may worry Forest supporters, but Lamouchi should know where there’s talent in the market after coming from Ligue 1 himself. Time will tell.
