Nottingham Forest have learned that their out of contract players in the summer will have their deals extended beyond 30th June, according to BBC Sport.

The Championship campaign has been postponed by the EFL due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic which has taken a firm grip on the UK.

As a result of Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s nationwide lockdown and medical experts suggesting that the illness has yet to peak, it is uncertain when football will return to our screens and stadiums.

With contracts due to expire in June and with the delay to the season, questions were being asked about what was to be done to rectify the futures of those individuals concerned.

BBC Sport revealed that talks by FIFA and other confederations have taken place and an agreement has been reached to say that all contracts will now end on dates before the climax of the 2019/20 season.

This essentially means that all deals will be extended throughout the summer when the campaign is expected to continue once the virus eases.

There are 11 players on the books at Forest whose existing terms come to a close at the end of the season. This includes influential players such as Samba SowMichael Dawson and captain Ben Watson.

Although four of those players are on loan from parent clubs, there is still plenty of work to be done behind the scenes by Sabri Lamouchi and his backroom staff.

Hopefully, this will give us the time that we need to negotiate new deals for those players above, and finalise the futures for others that need to be moved on.
