West Ham United are not going to push ahead with a move for Nottingham Forest’s Matty Cash in the summer due to the current situation.

The 22-year-old has featured in all but one of the Reds Championship games this season and he has really impressed at right-back under Sabri Lamouchi, weighing in with three goals and four assists to help the side to a play-off place. Such form hasn’t gone unnoticed though and it was claimed in January that the Hammers were very keen on doing a £12m deal for Cash, although Forest managed to stand firm as the deadline approached.

However, there has always been a fear that the player could depart in the summer and whist that remains the case, it doesn’t appear as though he will be moving to the London Stadium. That’s after Football Insider claimed West Ham are going to give Jeremy Ngakia a chance to prove himself in the coming months, with the financial impact of this break meaning David Moyes will be working with a reduced budget. The report adds that a host of names had been on the radar of the Irons but they will be happy going into the new season with Ngakia behind Ryan Fredericks.

As for Forest, Lamouchi’s men still have a bit of work to do to guarantee a top six finish, although a five-point cushion over seventh place means they should be competing for promotion through the play-offs in the coming months. If they do go up, they are sure to keep Cash with ease, as he still has three years left on his contract at the City Ground.
