Report: Nottingham Forest could sign ‘big midfielder’ from overseas ‘in next 48 hours’

According to Alan Nixon of The Sun, Nottingham Forest could sign ‘big midfielder’ Samba Sow from abroad ‘in the next 48 hours’. The 30-year-old has been at Dynamo Moscow since 2017, making 43 appearances in all competitions, but could be on the move in the coming days.

The defensive-midfielder’s market value is £1.8m and his last three moves – RC Lens to Karabükspor (2013), Karabükspor to Kayserispor (2015) and Kayserispor to Dynamo Moscow (2017) – have been free transfers. Sow’s arrival would be somewhat surprising given how many midfielders Forest have.
The Reds signed Alfa Semedo and Tiago Silva this summer to compete with Ben Watson, Claudio Yacob, Ryan Yates, Liam Bridcutt and Adlene Guedioura for a starting place, but Sabri Lamouchi is still looking to add to his squad before the transfer window shuts.
Forest’s pursuit of Sow could be to offset the loss of existing players. Yacob has been linked with a move to Olympiacos and Bridcutt is expected to be offloaded this summer too. Lamouchi may also be thinking about Watson’s legs, as the 34-year-old could struggle playing two games a week in 2019/20.
