Report: Latest move sees Nottingham Forest putting 24-year-old in the shop window
Zach Clough doesn’t have a future at Nottingham Forest and could be sold in January. There isn’t a lot of interest in the 24-year-old, however, which led to Forest putting him in the shop window with an exhibition match.
Clough featured in a behind closed door friendly against Notts County and was on the winning side as Forest sealed a 3-2 victory on Monday. The Englishman has turned out for the u23s this season, but whether he can find himself a new club remains to be seen.
He’s made 31 appearances in all competitions since joining Forest from Bolton Wanderers in January 2017, scoring just four goals. Clough’s last outing came against Wolverhampton Wanderers (January 1, 2018) and he’s made the matchday squad just once ever since.
With Lewis Grabban, Sammy Ameobi and Rafa Mir ahead in the pecking order, it’s hard to see Clough returning to Forest’s first-team. And given he’s been loaned out to League One sides such as Bolton and Rochdale, the Englishman clearly isn’t Championship quality.
Do Nottingham Forest need to sign backup for Lewis Grabban in the summer?
Whether his exhibition and reserve-team games can get him a suitor for January remains to be seen, however.
