Zach Clough has been on the periphery at Nottingham Forest this season but may be making a last attempt to impress Sabri Lamouchi or put himself in the shop window for January – the 24-year-old started Forest’s u23s in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth.

Clough’s last senior appearance for Forest came against Hull City on January 27, 2018 and he’s spent the last 18 months on loan at Bolton Wanderers (January 31, 2018 – May 31, 2018) & Rochdale (August 31, 2018 – January 1, 2019) (January 31, 2019 – May 31, 2019).

Lamouchi tried to offload Clough over the summer and has overlooked him in the first-team after failing to find a buyer, but the Englishman appears to be working hard to get back in favour. Given Forest only have Sammy Ameobi and Rafa Mir as cover for Lewis Grabban, Clough could be useful if he gets fit.

Whether he’s capable of playing in the Championship remains to be seen, however. The 24-year-old has scored just two goals since March 2017 and was been inconsistent during his loan spells to League One sides. Time will tell if Clough can impress Lamouchi to get the nod in the first-team.
