Former Nottingham Forest midfielder Adlene Guedioura has backed the club to ‘rock’ Wembley in the Championship play-off final, before beating Leeds 3-1 on the opening day of the Premier League season, something he says would be a ‘dream game’.
West Brom’s 2-1 defeat away at Huddersfield on Friday guaranteed Leeds’ promotion to the Premier League after 16 years, leading to messages of congratulations from across the world of football.
Taking to Twitter to offer his own message to the Whites, Guedioura – who made exactly 100 appearances for Forest across two spells at the City Ground – put something of a Forest spin on his post, stating that he was now waiting for Forest to secure promotion via the play-offs, before claiming that win over Leeds next season.
#dreamgame Next year #LeedsUnited 1 – #nffc 3 in the first game of season. Congrats to #Bielsa and his team 4 a very well deserved promotion. Just waiting for #Nffc to rock @wembleystadium in the playoff finals and #wfc to finish the job to secure #EPL 🙏🏻🔥⚡️♥️💛♥️💛💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽

How can you not love this is you’re a Forest fan.
Despite the fact his time at the club has come to an end, it is clear from this that Guedioura’s affection for Forest has not.
Will Guedioura's prediction come true?YesNo |
Indeed, with Forest still well in the battle for the play-offs this season, needing just two points from their remaining two games to guarantee a top-six spot, there is still a possibility that Guedioura will get to see the club in the Premier League in just a few months time.
Add to that the fact Forest are one of only two teams to beat Leeds in their last 14 games – beating Marcelo Bielsa’s side 2-0 at The City Ground back at the start of February – and it could be argued that the omens are there to hint that Guedioura’s dream may yet come true.
