Nottingham Forest could be without key trio Samba Sow, Matty Cash and Joe Lolley for their vital trip to Oakwell to face Barnsley on Sunday, the club have revealed.

Sabri Lamouchi’s side go into the game knowing that victory over the struggling Tykes will secure them a place in this season’s Championship play-offs, although it seems as though they may have to do it without three of their big names.

According to the club’s pre-match preview of the game, Lamouchi has confirmed that Cash and Lolley remain doubtful following recent injury problems, while there is now also concern about the availability of Sow.

Can Forest beat Barnsley without Sow, Cash and Lolley?

Right-back Cash has missed Forest’s last two games – draws with Preston and Swansea – through injury, while Lolley made his return from the bench against Swansea having been absent against Preston, but still looked off the pace.

Sow meanwhile has started each of Forest’s last four games before being substituted, having endured an extended spell on the sidelines prior to the season’s suspension.

This will be a concern for Forest, given the potential importance this game could have on their season.

The influence of Cash and Lolley already looks to have been felt at times in recent games, and adding another big player to that list of absentees in the form of Sow could only serve to make that situation worse.

Indeed, while Sow has been a very useful player for Forest this season, it is hard not to notice that he has had plenty of time out of the side this season, and that has to be a concern if he is going to continue to be such a vital player for the club going forward.
