Nottingham Forest have shown an interest to bring Galatasaray striker Mbaye Diagne to the City Ground in the summer, according to Fotospor.

Sabri Lamouchi’s side are in the mix for promotion to the Premier League this season as they sit fifth in the Championship table, 10 points behind West Bromwich Albion in second and five points ahead of Bristol City in seventh outside the Play-Off places.

Lewis Grabban has 17 goals to his name in the second-tier this season and is the only striker that has scored more than 10 for the Reds this term. Sammy Ameobi has just three goals to his name in 36 appearances and Lamouchi will be looking to bolster his attacking options.

Senegalese striker Diagne moved to Galatasaray from Kasimpasa for £9m (€10m) last year and was sent on loan to Club Brugge at the start of the season after scoring 11 goals in just 17 appearances in all competitions.

Sarı-Kırmızılılar are now willing to let Diagne leave for a fee between £5.4m and £7.2m (€6m-€8m), and Forest are among some undisclosed French clubs that are interested in the nine-cap international

Diagne is due to return to Turkey in the summer and his parent club have no intention of keeping hold of him, leaving the door open for Forest to take their opportunity and bring him to England.

Considering he hasn’t been part of Galatasaray’s first thoughts, his goalscoring record for him has been pretty decent. This is something that we could do with next season if we are to make it to the Premier League.

We will need firepower and having someone that can back up Grabban will be crucial for us going forward. Diagne could be that person, and for a reasonable price too, making him the perfect option to support Lamouchi’s tame offence.
