Nottingham Forest are one of a number of Championship clubs interested in signing Newcastle winger Jacob Murphy this summer, a report from TeamTalk has claimed.

Having struggled to make an impact at St James’ Park since a £12million move from Norwich in the summer of 2017, Murphy has spent the last season-and-a-half on loan in the Championship first with West Brom and then Sheffield Wednesday.

Now it seems as though Murphy could be set for another stint in English football’s second-tier during the 2020/21 season, with the latest reports claiming that a number of Championship clubs are interested in signing the 25-year-old.

It is thought that Forest have been joined by Middlesbrough, Derby and Stoke in taking an interest in the winger, while Wednesday are also said to be keen to bring Murphy back to Hillsborough for the coming campaign.

As things stand there are 12 months remaining on Murphy’s current contract with Newcastle, and Magpies boss Steve Bruce is reportedly keen to find the winger another loan move for the 2020/21 season.

This is an interesting one for Forest to consider.

While things have never really worked out for Murphy in the Premier League, the winger has shown on plenty of occassions that he can come up with big moments in the Championship.

As a result, this could certainly be a useful addition for Forest on a loan deal for their anticipated promotion push in the coming campaign, although with the level of interest there is in Murphy, it may not be easy for them to do that.
