The Football Association have today rejected the appeal made by Nottingham Forest, to have the red card issued to Chris Cohen in the 4-1 defeat to Leeds United on Saturday rescinded.

As if the mandatory 3 match ban for Cohen isn’t enough by way of taking the piss, the FA have also dished out a £5,000 fine for having 6 players cautioned in the game. It should come as no surprise whatsoever that the FA have bottled this decision and it should come as even less of a surprise that referee Mark Halsey refused to admit that he may have made a mistake.

NFFC have wisely said they will make no further comment on the appeal outcome, probably for fear of being hit with expulsion from the League. If they had commented, they would have more than likely spoke of the gross incompetence of match referee Mark Halsey, who made a catalogue of errors in the game, all to the advantage of the home side. They may well also have commented on the same incompetence shown by the suit wearing eunuch’s at the FA. (Bitter? You bet!).

Despite TV replays showing that Cohen won the ball and never made contact with the supposedly crippled George McCartney, the FA have refused to uphold the appeal. This decision by the FA makes a mockery of their Respect campaign, which was introduced to promote harmony and fairness throughout the game. Respect has to be earned and it’s my opinion that they have shown precious little towards NFFC or their supporters.

Cohen will now be suspended for 3 crucial Championship matches, beginning with Reading on Saturday. He will also miss the games with Burnley and Norwich. Thankyou very much for sweet FA.
