They’d be taking an awful big risk if they were to follow this man’s advice.

But then again, they’ve been taking the same risks throughout the season, and it hasn’t done them much harm, but it could still be a lot better.

Nottingham Forest have been going about their business rather quietly this season, not attracting the kind of media attention that the likes of Leeds United or Brentford have picked up, and according to one ex-Red, there’s a reason for that.

Speaking to Nottinghamshire Live, Former Forest player, manager and chairman Frank Clark has said that Nottingham Forest should maintain their present course when it comes to their challenge for promotion out of the Championship, even if it doesn’t come across as the most eye-catching style of play:

“I don’t listen to them much, but apparently the pundits don’t seem to rate us because we tend to be a counter-attacking team. But that’s a way of playing. Not everyone has to play a high tempo game and play on the front foot. We’ve not got the players to play that way. We’ve got players who are good on the counter-attack, and that’s okay.”

Forest currently sit 4th in the Championship table, but 11th when it comes to goals scored, and I feel that lack of goals has been holding them back throughout the campaign. This though goes back to what I have been saying all season, that whilst they have done well so far this campaign playing this way, there’s still a lot more that can come from this team.

If they can just start playing more games on the front foot, then it will give them a boost not just in their goal difference but also when it comes to their energy levels in the latter stages of not only individual games but the season as a whole.

And as we approach the business end of the season, they’re going to need all the help and subsequent rest that thy can get, and this would be a great way to go about doing it.

Should Nottingham Forest change their style of play towards the end of the season?

Yes

Yes

No

No

If they don’t get promoted at the end of the season, I feel like it could go down as a great opportunity missed when the solution was staring them in the face the whole time.
