Well, this is rather surprising isn’t it?
Given that Forest have the third-best defence in the league in terms of goals conceded, you could easily make the argument that the full-backs do enough work defensively, so where this comment came from is anybody’s guess.
But that seemed to be the argument that a certain member of Notts TV was trying to make the other day in their latest edition of TeamTalk. Former Forest caretaker boss Charlie McParland was highly critical of Matty Cash and Yuri Ribeiro for their part in West Bromwich Albion’s first goal at the weekend, saying that they were too far up the field when Samba Sow lost possession.
And Nottingham Forest fans were not happy with this assessment one little bit, as they tore into McParland, with some deciding to go after his comments and pointing out where he went wrong, with some deciding to go after the man himself.
Nonsense. The first goal was Sow’s fault, Cash couldn’t have expected him to make that mistake. We’ve got the 3rd best defence in the league and our full-backs, Cash in particular, have been outstanding this season. There are things to criticise us for but this is not one of them

Really??!!

Can we check if Charlie has had a head accident recently?

Clueless. These two have been have been outstanding for us this season defensively and going forward. Cash has surpassed all expectations for a ‘makeshift’ RB

He must be on about bong and jenkinson then.

Has Charlie been watching the games at all, as it’s such a bizarre thing to say

We’re defensive enough as it is without encouraging our full backs to get forward a bit less 😂

Is McParland right with these comments?
Yes
No
Perhaps he could have done a little more research before he made his comments, because as I pointed out earlier, it’s not like they’ve been terrible when it comes to their defensive record.
