Opinion: Nottingham Forest defender still awaiting Championship debut under Sabri Lamouchi

|

Yuri Ribeiro has yet to make his Championship debut since joining Nottingham Forest over the summer and it doesn’t appear likely that he’ll dethrone Jack Robinson any time soon. The 22-year-old has made two appearances this season, both of which have come in the EFL Cup, but he still hasn’t been handed a start in the league by Sabri Lamouchi.

Forest have started the 2019/20 campaign well and currently boast a five-game unbeaten run in the Championship. The Reds are 10th in the table with nine points from their first six outings and could move into the top-six if results go their way on the weekend. Lamouchi’s men lock horns with Swansea City on September 14 and will hope to end the Jacks’ unbeaten start to the season.

Ribeiro was left out of the matchday squad in Forest’s 1-1 draw with Preston North End before the international break, so he’ll no doubt be hoping to get the nod this time round. The Portuguese u21 international has been verya patient for opportunities, but all he can do is train well and impress Lamouchi when given an opportunity.
