Matty Cash is a class act, isn’t he?

The 22-year-old has found himself as a regular this season for manager Sabri Lamouchi’s side this season.

Cash has made 36 appearances this season, the same as his teammate Lewis Grabban, and only the likes of Ben Watson and Joe Worrall have appeared more with 37 outings each.

The City Ground faithful have loved him this season, specifically during our 2-2 draw against West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns where his late strike rescued a point for the Reds late on.

However, after a string of good performances, he previously attracted interested from clubs in Europe’s top leagues. This was AC Milan, who were linked with a £15m move for him. West Ham were also keen on Cash and reportedly bid a £10m offer a couple of months ago.

Is Matty Cash Forest's best player?

No

During the current campaign, he has managed to score three goals and provide four assists, which is not a bad return for someone playing as a fullback. With an average of 2.8 tackles and clearances per game respectively, his all-round game is so important to us and it isn’t a surprise that big clubs are enquiring about his services.

I would say that he is more important than Grabban in our team. Not only because the striker is 10 years older than Cash, but because of how much value he carries to our team.

The fact that AC Milan are interested in him, speaks volumes about his talent and his potential going forward. We will need him if we are to reach the Premier League next season. Regardless of who we sign, Cash should be one of the first names on the teamsheet.
