With only 9 games of the season left and Forest without a win in their last 6 games, we need to come away from Swansea today with at least a point, if we want to maintain our push for an automatic promotion place.

Defeat at the Liberty Stadium today, would deal a severe blow to our automatic promotion hopes and leave us 6 points adrift of the Swans and possibly 9 points off 2nd, with only 8 games to make up the ground. Whilst that wouldn’t be an impossible task, it would be a daunting prospect to say the least. The good news, is that if we did manage to pick up all 3 points in Swansea, it would give everyone connected with the club a massive boost for the final run-in.

The Swans go into this game on the back of 2 draws and a defeat from their last 3 games and also need a positive result to get their automatic promotion hopes back on track. They suffered a 2-1 defeat away at Derby last week, which was their 12th league defeat of the season to date.

Despite the gloom that we seem to have brought upon ourselves lately, our destiny does lie in our own hands and 2nd place is still their for the taking. Not one of the teams in the top 6 have managed to hold on to that 2nd spot for long, with the occupants changing on an almost weekly basis. Norwich currently sit there, but a good result by Hull today could see them relinquish their place.

Billy Davies will be pleased his battle weary troops get a much needed rest after this match, as they don’t play again until April 2 due to the international break. That will give time for the walking wounded to regain their fitness and embark on the final 8 game run-in that is sure to have yet more twists and turns. Whatever the result in Swansea today, this break can’t come quick enough for us.
