It’s not perfect, but at least we’re seeing some progress.

Although I’m rather disappointed with the amount of goals we conceded, and the manner of them, at least there was an increase in the amount that we scored.

I said last week, and put a strong emphasis on it, that we needed to be a little bit more aggressive in our style of play. That winning games 1-0 wasn’t going to be enough to see us through this season, we needed to start winning games by three or four. So the fact that we managed to do that by scoring three at Stoke City on Friday night was very promising to see.

I’m almost willing to let the first goal slide. Given the amount of pressure that the Stoke City boss was under and players wanting to make a good impression, they came firing out of the blocks with a goal less than minutes in. After that though, we managed to weather the storm and were on the offensive for the majority of the rest of the game scoring three goals. That is exactly what I want to see from Nottingham Forest going forward from here until the end of the season.

Now though, we need to show that we can keep it up, starting with tomorrow night’s game against Blackburn Rovers. In fact tomorrow night’s game will stand as a good test to see how far we have come when it comes to this new aggressive style. Blackburn have had a much better run than Stoke City did going into our game, so we’ll need to keep the same level of intensity up if we are to get a decent result.

All I ask is that we are a little more careful when it comes to defending, Stoke’s first goal could easily have been avoided if we were a little quicker to react to the ball bouncing around, and then that result could have been a whole lot more convincing.

What about you? Were you happy with the way the game played out in terms of our attacking capabilities? Or do you think that the fact we conceded twice somewhat soured things?
