Official: Nottm Forest confirm 14th signing of the season, youngster joins on free transfer

Nottingham Forest have confirmed the signing of Liam Sole – their 14th acquisition of the season. The 19-year-old has joined on a free transfer after a successful trial with the u23s and will join Forest’s reserve team on a short-term contract.

Sole was playing for MK Dons but struggled for first-team football which led to him joining St. Albans City on loan (January 25, 2019 – May 31, 2019). The midfielder was surplus to requirements at his parent club and was released over the summer.

Sabri Lamouchi has given youth a chance this season, playing Arijanet Muric (20), Joe Worrall (22), Yuri Ribeiro (22), Alfa Semedo (22), Matty Cash (22), Carvalho (22), Rafa Mir (22) and Brennan Johnson (18) in the first-team, but Sole has a tough task of playing at senior level.

Semedo, Ben Watson, Ryan Yates, Samba Sow and John Bostock are ahead of Sole in the first-team pecking order. The 19-year-old needs to impress Academy manager Gary Brazil & Jimmy Gilligan to potentially get an opportunity from Lamouchi. Time will tell if he’s successful.

But after being cast aside by MK Dons, Sole has clearly worked hard to seduce Forest.
