Nottingham will be one of 12 host cities, in England’s 2018 World Cup bid and Nottingham Forest will be one of the venues, if the bid is successful.

Nottingham beat off competition from neighbours Leicester and Derby and despite a fall out with our local County Council, the bid was still chosen ahead of them.

The announcement will bring the proposed new stadium for Forest a step closer, with a move to Gamston, thought to be the preferred location. An announcement from the club is expected on that one soon.

A total of 12 cities have been chosen. The full list is:

Sunderland
Newcastle
Birmingham
Manchester
Nottingham
London
Leeds
Sheffield
Plymouth
Liverpool
Milton Keynes
Bristol
