A shed load of media sources, are today reporting that Coventry City boss Chris Coleman, is to make an audacious £1m bid for Reds’ midfielder Lewis McGugan.

If there is any substance to the stories, then the offer is derisory at best. McGugan is still only 21 and still under contract and he’s also one of the brightest young prospects at the club. He might not be first choice in the middle of the park at present, but that’s mainly down to injury and the fact that the midfield is currently playing so well.

It’s fair to say that McGugan has been the subject of the manager’s wrath in the past, due to being unfit and overweight, but those problems are behind him now. He’s been mainly used as an impact sub in games so far this season and what an impact he’s made when called upon. Vital goals against Cardiff and Doncaster, have helped lift us to 4th in the table.

I wouldn’t go as far to say that McGugan wont be moving to Coventry or anywhere else for that matter, but definitely not at that price. Leon Best is of course still at City and has been the subject of interest from Forest in the past. The player himself expressed an interest in joining his hometown club last season, so it makes you wonder if there is a possible deal to be done there. The news that Coventry are supposedly skint, could also lend some weight to a Best/McGugan swap type deal. Thankfully, January is only a matter of days away, so we wont have too long to find out.
