Nottingham Forest striker to miss Swansea clash, Lamouchi says he ‘needs some rest’

Nottingham Forest will be without Rafa Mir ahead of Saturday’s meeting with Swansea City after Sabri Lamouchi revealed the striker “needs some rest” and is expected to return in one or two weeks. Lewis Grabban should start in attack against Swansea, but Forest will be lacking depth without Mir in the squad.

Lamouchi told Nottinghamshire Live: “I hope he will be back with us next week, or the next two weeks maximum. He needs some rest.” Sammy Ameobi is an option for the Reds up front, but he might be starting in a wider role after impressing in recent weeks. Zach Clough is also available.

Mir joined Forest on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers to provide backup for Grabban and has made six appearances in all competitions. He’s amassed 251 minutes of football under Lamouchi, making two assists, but he’s yet to get off the mark.

The 22-year-old came off the bench against West Bromwich Albion (August 3), Leeds United (August 10), Birmingham City (August 17) and Charlton Athletic (August 21) but has been an unused substitute against Fulham (August 24) and Preston North End (August 31.)

Mir is the latest Forest player on the treatment table after Carl Jenkinson’s injury, but the Reds should have enough options to cope in his absence.
