Nottingham Forest midfielder is one booking away from suspension ahead of Wigan clash

|

According to the Football Association, Samba Sow is one booking away from receiving an automatic one-game ban. The 30-year-old has picked up four yellow cards in nine appearances and could be at risk ahead of Sunday’s meeting with Wigan Athletic.

As per FA rules and governance, five cautions following 19 league appearances will result in suspension. Forest have only played 11 times in the Championship this season. It’s worth noting, however, that Sow is currently recovering from injury so he may not even feature against the Latics.

Sow’s first booking came against Leeds United (August 10) in the 71st minute for a foul on Adam Forshaw. His second booking came against Preston North End (August 31) in the 83rd minute for a foul on Daniel Johnson. His third booking came against Swansea City (September 14) for a second-half foul. His fourth booking came against Stoke City (September 27).

He needs to avoid another booking before Forest’s 20th league game of the season or he’ll be suspended. Sow faces a race to be fit to face Wigan, but Sabri Lamouchi could have Alfa Semedo, John Bostock, Tiago Silva or Ryan Yates to call upon if he’s not 100%.
