Moussi Rocket Earns Forest A Point

Forest battled for a well earned draw at Ashton Gate yesterday, thanks to a 25 yard wonder strike from Guy Moussi. His 29th minute equaliser, levelled the scores and put an end to the dreadful away form that had seen the Reds’ lose their previous 7 games on the road.

Billy Davies made no less than 4 changes to the starting lineup for this game, hopefully giving a few a rest ahead of the final 5 matches and the almost inevitable Playoffs. Perch moved into central midfield, with Chambers going to right back, along with McGoldrick and Adebola starting upfront. Joe Garner found a place on the bench for a change and came on for the last half hour to replace former Robin Dele Adebola, who was making his first visit back to Ashton Gate since signing for the Reds’ in the summer.

Forest got off to the worst possible start, by going a goal down inside the first couple of minutes. Bradley Orr hit a powerful shot from distance, that took a wicked deflection on its way passed Camp and into the net. On loan midfielder George Boyd almost pulled the Reds’ level shortly after, but his header from 12 yards out off a Cohen freekick, went just over the bar.

On the half hour mark, Guy Moussi hit a thunderbolt from 25 yards out, that ended up in the top corner of the net to draw the Reds’ level. He doesn’t score many, but when he does, they prove to be vital. The home side could have gone it at the break ahead, but a great save from Camp, denied Fontaine a goal.

Joe Garner replaced Adebola just after the restart and he almost put the Reds’ infront with a powerful header that keeper Gerken did well to save. The home side squandered chances to take the lead and were dealt a blow towards the end of the game, when Gerken had to be replaced. He came off the worse for wear, after a 50/50 with Tyson on the edge of the box and with the Robins having used up all their subs, it was left to striker Stefan Maierhofer to step into goal.

Despite being down to 10 men and without a recognised keeper, Forest couldn’t get a shot on the City goal. It’s a point most would have taken before the game and one that puts a halt to the run of away defeats, that has all but ended our chances of going up automatically. There’s only 5 games left to play now and then it’s into the lottery of the Playoffs. We all know how much we love them.
